Legal
Terms of Service
Effective 29 July 2026
1. Who you're dealing with
QuoteMate is operated by Alex Murray, a New Zealand sole trader trading as QuoteMate. Contact: support@quotemate.nz.
2. What QuoteMate is (and isn't)
QuoteMate is a tool for creating and sending quotes and invoices. It is not accounting, tax, or legal advice. You're responsible for the accuracy of your documents — prices, GST treatment, and whether your invoices meet your legal obligations. The tool does the arithmetic; the business decisions are yours.
3. Your account
Keep your login secure; you're responsible for what happens under your account. One business per account. Don't use QuoteMate to send spam, anything unlawful, or documents that are deliberately misleading.
4. Plans and billing
Free, Starter, and Pro plans are described on the pricing page. Prices are in New Zealand dollars. QuoteMate is not GST-registered, so no GST is charged on subscription prices. Billing is monthly through Stripe. You can cancel anytime — your paid features keep working until the end of the billing period you've paid for, and we don't give partial-period refunds. If a payment fails repeatedly, your account drops to the Free plan.
5. Your content
Your quotes, invoices, customer records, and logo are yours. You give us permission to store and process them purely to run the service — including emailing documents to the people you address them to. We don't use your content for anything else. Our Privacy Policy explains how information is handled.
6. Xero integration
The Xero integration needs your own Xero subscription and QuoteMate Pro. Invoices arrive in Xero as drafts — nothing posts to your ledger until you approve it there. What happens inside Xero is between you and Xero.
7. Availability
QuoteMate is provided “as is”. We work hard to keep it running, but we're a small operation and don't offer an uptime guarantee. Features may change or improve over time.
8. Liability
To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you is capped at the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under the Consumer Guarantees Act where that Act applies.
9. Ending things
You can ask us to delete your account at any time (email support@quotemate.nz; actioned within 10 working days). We can suspend or close accounts that break these terms — where reasonable, we'll warn you first.
10. Law
New Zealand law governs these terms, and New Zealand courts (or the Disputes Tribunal, where eligible) handle any disputes.
11. Changes
If these terms change materially, we'll email account holders before the change takes effect.
